First opened in 1997, The Gardens Senior Living has been providing quality senior care to Gulf Coast residents for over 20 years. Located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi just east of Biloxi, residents can sit back and enjoy the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We offer convenient access to the historic art district and downtown area of Ocean Springs, MS, including shops, galleries and museums, restaurants, and more. The Gardens attracts residents from throughout Jackson County, including Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gautier, and Pascagoula, as well as residents from out of state.

Known for its vibrant and eclectic arts community, Ocean Springs is the ideal location to enjoy a life of retirement. We are always planning outings for our residents, whether it’s a scenic drive along the coast, a trip to the local casino, or an evening of shopping and dining. Each year, the residents look forward to the annual christening of the shrimp boats, a local tradition in Mississippi. When our residents are not enjoying all that beautiful Ocean Springs has to offer, they can participate in a variety of activities at The Gardens. A typical day in our community involves spiritual services, fitness classes, book clubs, yoga, and more!

Senior Living Staff Having A Blast In Masks

At The Gardens, we take pride in providing exceptional senior care services to all of our residents. In fact, The Gardens has been the only senior living community in Mississippi to be named a Caring Star by for excellent senior care services in both 2016 and 2017. Most of our staff have been working at The Gardens for over a decade, ensuring that all of our residents’ needs are taken care of in a professional, experienced manner. We have nurses at the community 7 days a week as well as medication care managers, LPNs, a 24-hour staff, and more.

Jody Ellis Stoddard

Executive Director

As a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Jody realized at a young age that she wanted to spend her life caring for others. Jody obtained a Bachelor’s in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from William Carey College. Since 2002, she has worked in a few hospitals out of the area, but found her way back home along the Gulf Coast in various healthcare positions until settling here at The Gardens. When Jody is away from The Gardens family, she is occupied by her two children and husband, Clay. She enjoys the beautiful Gulf of Mexico through sailing, fishing or sitting on the beach at Horne Island.

Janna O’Sullivan

Dining Services Director

Janna has been a chef for the last 20 years working in restaurants, casinos, and universities. For the last ten years, Janna has worked in all areas of senior care, from chef to wellness director before landing in her current position. She has a degree in culinary arts and nutrition, and loves celebrating the connection between food and family. Together with her husband David, Janna has two children: Cayland and Sophia.

Brenna Mire

Business Office Manager

Brenna has been at The Gardens since 2003. She started working with seniors at the age of 20 and quickly realized that was her passion. She has worked in Alzheimer’s units as well as retirement communities, but has found that assisted living is where her heart is. Brenna is currently attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health sciences. You can find her any given Saturday cheering on her son’s football team, the Yellow Jackets (Go Gold!), and any given Sunday watching the New Orleans Saints. Brenna also enjoys reading, boating, camping, and spending time with family and friends.

Rebecca McGallagher

Health Services Director

Rebecca graduated Nursing school from MGCCC in June 2005. Since then she has worked in several fields, including the hospital, home health, and assisted living. Rebecca has two older brothers and her parents have been married for 46 years. Together with her husband John, Rebecca has six children of her own - Breanna, Haley, Cole, Camden, Tyler, and Ally. In their free time, they enjoy fishing, camping and watching old movies. When asked what her favorite thing about working at The Gardens, Rebecca replied, "For some, you may be the only family they have and you get to make a difference in their life every day. I love knowing that I am making a difference and caring for those that need assistance makes coming to work a pleasant experience."
